Beat Making Session XI [SP-404A] (Resample Method | Chopping Jazz Guitar)
In this session I chop up Drums, Jazz Guitar and Vocals then record live Bass to make a Lo-Fi Chill Jazz Beat on the SP404A.

I do my "Through Composed" style of beat making where I use Resample to record the full length of the beat with finger drum jams (w/ a Metronome). I then rinse and repeat to layer all the other samples on top...it takes a little longer but I like the loose, organic feel I get with the end result. Welcome to the Unquantized City Limits.
Here's the breakdown:
02:04 - The Samples [Drums/Guitar/Vocals]. All three were processed with Bit Crash [MFX 14] and Equalizer [MFX 13] in my attempt to replicate the SP-202 Lo-Fi 2 sound. 03:32 - After having chopped the drum break, I set my Metronome app on the iPad to a cosy 74bpm and using Resample lay down about 2 minutes of finger drums. More on making a beat with a Metronome here: • Using a METRONOME to sample Guitar & ...
05:30 - Record the Guitar chops though the full length of the beat using Resample.

09:33 - Record my Fender P Bass, again with the Metronome. The only processing I do is the Isolator to take out the mids & highs. After chopping the bass line I then lay it down on the beat with Resample.
12:10 - Lastly, I record the vocal sample before the beat kicks in...that's about it.
