We'll learn how to troubleshoot POWER BI DATA SOURCE CREDENTIALS or Power BI Gateways:

🔴 Problems we'll troubleshoot:
***"The data source cannot be updated because the credentials are invalid. Please update the credentials and try again."
*** “Data source credentials could not be updated: an error happened while Reading data from the provider: ‘A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period f time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond’ “

🔴 Requirements:
.NET Framework 4.6 (Gateway release August 2019 and earlier)
.NET Framework 4.7.2 (Gateway release September 2019 and later)
A 64-bit version of Windows 8 or a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2012 R2

🔴 Recommendations:
8-core CPU
8 GB of RAM
64-bit version of Windows Server 2012 R2 or later

1) Download a standard gateway from the official Power BI website: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Link...

2) Install the Gateway
2.1) Select the gateway location
2.2) Enter the email address associated with the PowerBI account where the reports will be published
2.3) Select the option to Register the gateway on the computer
2.4) Define the gateway name and password: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/data...
3) From PowerBi.com
3.1) Click the gear icon
3.2) Click Manage gateways
3.3) Click Add new data source
3.4) Create the data source
3.4.1) Data source name: Use the database name
3.4.2) Data source type: PostgreSQL
3.4.3) Server: Server IP address
3.4.4) Database: Name of the database to connect to
3.4.5) Username: User with access permission to the database Data
3.4.6) Password: Password of the user with access to the database
3.4.7) Click on Advanced Settings.
3.4.7.1) Encryption settings for this data source: No encryption
3.4.7.2) Privacy level for this data source: None
3.4.8) Click on Add
4) Repeat step 3 for each database used in the report
5) Go to the workspace where the reports are published
6) Click on Dataset
7) Click on Update Now
8) Click on Gateway Connection
9) Activate the gateway
10) Click on Apply
11) On this same screen, go to the Scheduled Update option
12) Set the frequency with which you want to update the report
13) Check the option: Send update error notifications to the dataset owner
14) Indicate the email address where the notifications will be sent.
