Upbeat Dub // with Cizzle, MCO2, Mimeophon, and Three Sisters [8/10/25]
I'm calling this an upbeat dub simply because it's a little uptempo from some of my last jams. Like the previous video I uploaded, this video is a few jams that I did on top of each other. I first recorded a kick drum (to use as a reference,) and a chord sequence from Cizzle (going through Three Sisters and Mimeophon) into Ableton. I then recorded another chord sequence on top of this (also from Cizzle) and then a third. This way, I could build up layers of chords . It was nice as I could focus my attention carefully in each performance, but I lost a little flexibility and responsiveness (as once the chords were recorded, that was it - they were fixed). I then added a bass from MCO2.
The video you can see here is the final part of the jigsaw. I jammed the drum parts live over the top of the other pre-recorded live performances.
For me, it was more interesting towards the end of the jam - I really enjoyed the drums and bass at the end - but that's often the way (I think I loosen up a bit once I know I've got some of the track laid down).
