Interfacing of Digital to Analog Converter (ADC)to 8051 Microcontroller Kit.
In this program PA0 -PA7 Connected to data lines D0-D7
PB0-PB2 : Channel Selection
PC7 : (SOC) Start of Conversion & ALE
PC6 : OE (Output Enable)
PA7 : For EOC (End of Conversion)
Features of ADC 0809 :
Resolution 8Bit
Conversion time - 100 micro Sec
Supply voltage 5VDC
8 Channel Multiplexer with latched control logic
0 to 5V analog input voltage range with single 5V supply
Low power consumption 15mW
Latched Tri-state output
ADC interface consists of a NAND gate oscillator , which feeds 50KHZ as input clock to the ADC.
POLED MODE OPERATION :
In the poled mode the microcontroller/microprocessor is continuously monitoring (or poling) EOC line (which is connected to port line PA7). When this line goes high , make OE (PC6) high & then Low , this will put the digital equivalent of analog voltage of the given channel on the data lines of ADC. Read the digital data through port lines PA0-PA7 and the same data is displayed on the data field of LCD Screen in the microcontroller Kit /Seven segment Display.
