Previously, this attribute was optional (with some exceptions, like perfumes and liquids in Germany). Now, it’s required for products in the EU, EFTA countries, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
👉 This means that certain products must display unit prices (weight, volume, length, or area) in compliance with local regulations. Expect errors or disapprovals in Google Merchant Center if these values aren’t included.
Affected product categories include:
Food & beverages
Office supplies
Hardware
Flooring
Business cards
Perfume & cosmetics
If you don’t already have unit pricing attributes set up (like base price units and sizes), now is the time to add them to avoid disapprovals.
💡 This doesn’t apply to the US but is now mandatory across most of Europe and other English-speaking regions.
If you need help setting this up in Google Merchant Center, or you’re unsure how to implement unit pricing, drop a comment below or reach out.
