Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle turned out much better than anyone could have expected. What initially sounded soulless and cynical ended up being a hugely successful, well-received, thrilling family attraction for both kids and adults. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, the film builds on the 1995 story of a magical board game that evolved into a body-swapping comedy with a video game theme.

Welcome to the Jungle had plenty of silliness, but not all of it was executed perfectly. Audiences won't even notice many of them, but adults probably will. Here are some things only adults will notice in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Jumanji begins in 1996, introducing viewers to a teenager named Alex in a sleeveless Metallica t-shirt, whose bedroom is covered in posters of the era's culture. Nothing says "teenager 1996" like his abrupt abandonment of the Jumanji board game in favor of his trusty PlayStation controller. We see him playing Twisted Metal, a PlayStation game released in November 1995.

But if you look closely at the details of his room to appreciate the '90s vibe, you can get a good look at the console itself. Spoiler: it's not a PlayStation. It doesn't even remotely resemble a PlayStation. Apparently, its closest relative is the Atari 2600, a wood-paneled console that was already 20 years old in the mid-'90s. Of course, once you notice this, you can't ignore the fact that the controllers are swapped from PlayStation to Nintendo when kids bring their consoles to school. No wonder they can't figure out how to use this strange contraption.
