Герой Советского Союза (посмертно) Зоя Космодемьянская, во время выполнения задания штаба Западного фронта в составе диверсионно-разведывательной группы в ноябре 1941 г., была схвачена немцами и после пыток 29 ноября 1941 г. повешена в д.Петрищево (сейчас Рузский р-н Московской области). Зоя Космодемьянская первая женщина, удостоенная звания Героя Советского Союза во время Великой Отечественной войны. Зоя стала символом героизма советских граждан в Великой Отечественной войне.

Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, during the assignment of the headquarters of the Western Front as part of a sabotage and reconnaissance group in November 1941, was captured by the Germans and after being tortured on November 29, 1941, hanged in d.Petrishchevo (now Ruzsky district of the Moscow region). Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya is the first woman awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. Zoya became a symbol of the heroism of Soviet citizens in the Great Patriotic War.
