When reporting instructions, commands, requests, prohibitions, and more, we use Reported Speech in its imperative form. Therefore, it is necessary to know some key reporting verbs that will help us in this process, including: tell, request, order, ask, advise, allow.
When mentioning a reported sentence in the imperative, it is important to use the infinitive with TO (for example, to study) and the negative form with NOT TO followed by the main verb (not to go, not to touch, etc.). You will learn this in much more detail in this class.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The imperative mood in English is only used in the affirmative and negative forms; it does not have an interrogative form.
