REVIEW: The Xiaomi Redmi 9A Puts Affordability First
Xiaomi Redmi 9A gets the basics right, but if it’s power you’re looking for, it might be best to skip this one. The body is plastic, but it doesn’t downplay the look at all, and the case has a nice non-slip feel, so not likely to drop this one either.
BODY & DISPLAY:
The 9A has a 6.53-inch screen giving you 81.0% screen-to-body ratio. You'd expect it to be sluggish with just 2GB of RAM but it's pretty smooth out of the box. The dual SIM with a third slot for the SSD is great because the OS takes up 12GB of the 32GB of storage. It’s running a full version of Android and not Android Go that you might have seen on other budget phones.
CAMERA: The camera is about what you would expect from a budget-friendly device like the 9A. It’s has a single 13MP main camera and a 5MP selfie cam for average photos and fair selfies.
BATTERY: This is where the 9A impresses. It’s 5000mAh battery with 10Wcharging capabilities, means you have battery for days.

The Redmi 9A is ideal for anyone who’s looking to get the basics – calling, texting and staying on top of social media. If it’s power and precision you need, then you might have to look elsewhere. But, if you’re willing to sacrifice high performance for high affordability, this is your phone.
At its price point I can’t see a better offering.
