Can You Get a DWI For Sleeping in Your Car!?
Can the cops arrest you for a DWI for sleeping in your car while drunk? It depends.
If the keys were in the ignition and/or the car was turned on, you CAN get a DWI. Otherwise, the biggest charge you can get is public intoxication, which is only a citation.
Remember, if you're on public property or you're on private property with permission, you are allowed to sleep in your car. If you do decide to sleep off a buzz, be sure to put the keys on the passenger seat or on the floor, and cover your windows if possible.
