How to use Contact Management functionality when sending bulk SMS messages via IntelliSMS web app. https://www.intellisms.com.au/solutio...
Peter Humphries is a CEO of Intelli Messaging, a Melbourne based SMS Gateway technology company.
Welcome to SMS Contact Management within our SMS sending functionality in our web application.
The second video in this five-part series demonstrates Three Things:
00:46 Importing Contacts
00:32 Managing Contacts
03:30 Creating Contact Filters
We're gonna cover the process of importing contacts, managing contacts, and creating contact filters.
Contact filters are used to select a portion of your contact list to send messages to.
Log in to IntelliSMS account.
00:32 SMS Home
Go to SMS Home Page
00:32 Managing Contacts
Contacts are managed from the SMS home page.
00:35 Contact Button
Simply select the contact button.
00:42 Search Button
If we push the Search button here.
We will find that we actually have no contacts in our list, so to get some in.
00:46 Importing Contacts
Click Import button.
We're going to do an import process.
00:52 Import Data Page
We select Add Contacts.
Put an email address in.
00:57 Contact Process
The contact process is done in a batch operation and when complete.
You are sent an email to send you the result of the import process.
Any contact that was not imported will be listed in a file attached to that email with an explanation of why they weren't imported.
01:14 Country Field
The country is selected to do the number validation of the import process.
You can only import contacts for one country at a time in the system.
01:24 Smart Number Validation
The number validation process is smart enough to detect for instance, for Australia, a number starting with four, and will add 61 to the front of it.
A number starting in 04 will also add 61 in front of it.
Once the conversion is done, the number must be found to be 11 characters long, or else the number will be rejected and that contact won't be imported.
01:50 Contact File Sample
The contact file sample can be downloaded by clicking on this link here.
That gives you the format of the file from which to import.
02:00 Contact File Opened
We already have a file opened.
We have downloaded a small file to import some contacts in, and these are the columns.
02:07 Remove Headers
The export file does have the row header, which you need to remove but it does explain what each column is.
In this file, we're importing first name, last name, mobile number, whether the contact has opted out, and the last column is a category to categorize the contacts, which we will use when we create a search filter.
02:30 Choose a File | Import Contact
Choose a file then Click Import.
We are not going to wait for the import file, as a very small file will be imported very quickly. We can import literally hundreds of thousands of contacts in one file.
02:50 Contact Page
We go back now to our contact page.
02:56 Search Contacts
Search for our contacts.
We will see these contacts are now imported to the system, and they carry the category as we've defined.
03:06 Search first Name
We can search for contacts by putting criteria into the search filter.
03:14 Search Category
We can search for contacts that belong to a particular category.
And that helps us find them and manage those contact reports.
We can edit them or manually opt them out if you like.
03:30 Creating Contact Filters
The next step is having a look at the filter process.
Click on the filter button.
03:39 SMS Contact Filter List
We have no filters defined, so we're going to create a filter.
03:44 Filter Name
We're going to give this a name.
e.g. 'filter name' for business
03:48 Categories
Select the business category.
03:51 Save
Click Save.
Save that as a filter and now we do have the filter defined.
03:58 SMS Home
This means that we would go back to SMS Home.
Select contacts to add to our send list.
We're going to select business.
Hit search.
That produces all the contacts within the category filter.
And then we can select all of those, and they get added to our 'To' field, and now we can enter our messages in the field.
The filters are also used in the campaign process, so when we create a campaign we have to select the contact filter that applies to that campaign.
