One by One Pebble Tile Installed on
Many types of pebble/stone tile sheets have the pebbles/stones way too close to each other or there's absolutely no gap in between some of them which means grout will never get down in between those stones but water WILL.
In order to eliminate any water damage later on, I decided to break away (peel off) each and every piece of stone from the mesh only to realize that after a couple of sheets, my hands were being stung by many fiberglass 'needles' from the mesh.
Even after I got the right kind of gloves, it was still very painful to apply force and remove each mosaic stone from the mesh as it was pushing the fiberglass already in my skin, even deeper.
Eventually I managed to get almost 1,000 slices of stone off the mesh and had to install them one by one on the shower floor. It's quite an interesting kind of puzzle and the idea is that no stone should touch any other stone.
There has to be at least 1/16 of an inch in between any 2 stones at the closest point to make sure grout will go down in between the stones and water won't.
This shower floor got epoxy grout which is recommended by the shower base manufacturer (wedi) for tile pieces smaller than 2 inches but bigger than 1 inch.
The same stones will be installed on the back of the shower niche/alcove/shelves which is around 2.5 sq. ft. area.
