The armored car was developed in 1941–1942. in USA. Produced by General Motors. From October 1942 to December 1943, 2844 units were produced. The vehicle only entered service with the British army and its dominions; it was not used by the US army. There were several modifications for various purposes; in 1944, the Staghound Mk. III, which became the most heavily armed armored vehicle of the Second World War. Canadian units managed to use these armored cars in battles. After the war, 14 Staghound Mk. III ended up in Denmark. Also, a number of vehicles were used by the Lebanese army.
