Probably the only new feature in the Ultra upgrade patch that requires no explanation, the hi-res texture pack doubles the resolution of the original package. This of course, also increases the memory requirement up to four-times as much. Without the texture pack, I was already reaching 1.2GB of memory used on a single GTX 580 but that easily maxes out all 1.5GB once I enable the high-resolution textures. It looks significantly better than the stock textures and I am glad that Crytek has included this in the Ultra upgrade pack. Unfortunately, to keep the size manageable not all textures in the game have been converted to high-resolution and you will find some that are lower resolution, sometimes even side-by-side as you can see on the video.
