We moved into our new house just one day ago, but I couldn't resist going down to the basement. My mother kept warning me:
"What are you going to do down there, Mete? You'll get covered in dust!"
"Mom, I'm just looking!" I replied. It wasn't a lie; I was actually looking. But then something sparkled in the corner of the basement.
Inside an old box was a strange necklace. It had writing on it. I read it out loud: "Your wish will come true, but you'll pay the price."
I laughed to myself. "What's the price? It's like a movie line!" I said, and slipped the necklace into my pocket.
At dinner, my mother started talking about the project my math teacher assigned me, and I started to grumble in annoyance.
"I wish there were no school tomorrow," I muttered.
My dad laughed and said, "You talk big, Mete! But remember, you can't get away without doing a project."
"Dad, wouldn't it be great if school were canceled?" I said sarcastically. Everyone laughed, and I just smiled and moved on.
