Here's how to create a PivotTable by using an existing external data connection:
Click any cell on the worksheet.
Click Insert - PivotTable.
In the Create PivotTable dialog box, under Choose the data that you want to analyze, click Use an external data source.
Click Choose Connection.
Can I create a pivot table from multiple worksheets?
To create a Pivot Table, you can use data from different sheets in a workbook, or from different workbooks, if those tables have identical column structures. However, you won't get the same pivot table layout that you'd get from a single range, as you can see in the screen shot below
