My trip starts at the railway station with the hot name Afrikanda. However, instead of sunshine I am met by a strong wind and cold rain. I carry my things from the platform to the shore of the lake and pack my kayak. Struggling with the elements I make my first crossing of the lake on the Ekostrov Imandra. Frozen and exhausted I get to the first cape. At the parking place I find the place where a tourist had died and a memorial plaque. It upsets me but I have no strength to go further and I decide to make a camp and cook dinner. This concludes the first day. See you in the next episode.
