You don't expect your average Flash game to be scary, at least not most of the time. While horror Flash games exist, they normally aren't shy about telling you what to expect.
But what would you expect out of a simple card game? Out of a short puzzle across a pixel map, where you can talk to your friends and neighbours and find out fun secrets like who has the best cards, where to go next, and that your village ran out of antibiotics months ago.
Gregory Weir created many masterpieces back in the heyday of the Flash Player, but no game, created by them nor by anyone else, quite captures the hidden existential horror of The Day.
