Salomon Sustainable Stories Ep 2: Safety in the Backcountry
Sustainability isn’t only about the environment. It’s also about people. And with more and more people venturing into the backcountry this winter, the second episode of our Sustainability Series examines the various ways you can become educated when it comes to backcountry safety, starting with a few programs that Salomon offers. Our host, Tim Sweeney, tracked down mountain guides Tony Lamiche and Greg Hill from the Salomon freeski team to get some words of wisdom Salomon’s Mountain Academy on snow and how our athletes continue to educate themselves on backcountry safety and practice rescue scenarios. Later, Tim bumped into pro snowboarder Victor Daviet in the mountains, and—before a rather romantic French ski touring picnic—they chatted about Safety Shred Days, which Victor started so that he could help educate young freeriders about backcountry safety.
