How many times have you taken a fantastic image only to have it appear flat on your computer, lacking punch?
This is because the camera monitor displays a developed image, while the RAW file is undeveloped.
Shooting in RAW produces very dull files: muted highlights, nonexistent contrast, but developing is like discovering a gold mine: all the highlights and contrasts come out, resulting in an image similar to the one you saw when you took the shot. The camera can't capture all the drama of clouds, but RAW stores all the data, and it's up to us to extract it!
All that's left to do is develop the photo, focusing on the strengths of your shot!
