Zack Snyder's Watchmen: How Loyalty can Destroy Adaptation
SPOILERS FOR THE WATCHMEN COMIC & MOVIE, MINOR SPOILERS FOR THE HBO SHOW
Zack Snyder's Watchmen may be the source of more heated entertainment arguments in my life than any other single piece of work. And I've always felt that my primary criticism has never been at the forefront of any of the discussion about the movie. If it's mentioned at all, it's off-handedly, but I think it's the core reason why this film does not work. And that is the fact that it hews so closely to the original work that it fundamentally fails as an adaptation.
