Welcome to practical networking, where I draw upon my experiences as a network engineer to demonstrate how you can solve real-world business challenges.
In this scenario, we will assume the role of a network administrator operating in a 24x7 service provider environment. The carrier for one of the internet links into your data center notified you that they are performing maintenance that may disrupt traffic. Our task is to evaluate how to minimize network disruptions to avoid service impairment.
BGP, or Border Gateway Protocol, is used in large-scale networks like the internet. It facilitates the exchange of routing and reachability information between different autonomous systems. Companies often use BGP to peer with internet service providers.
In this video, I’m going to illustrate how we can use different BGP features to influence preferred routing pathways.
