Bilingual rap innovator MIYACHI, known for seamlessly blending English and Japanese, unleashes his latest album SALARYMAN STRIKES BACK, a powerful 12-track manifesto rooted in his experiences as a former salaryman and for the first time the multi-talented creative is bringing his viral “KONBINI CONFESSIONS” character and rap persona into one world, releasing on Friday, October 17th, via Mass Appeal Records.
Following the recent feature of his controversial single “HERO” on Rolling Stone Japan, this project, under the banner of Nas’ iconic hip-hop label Mass Appeal, solidifies MIYACHI’s mission to shake up the Japanese rap scene. SALARYMAN STRIKES BACK is a raw, unfiltered rebellion against the soul-crushing monotony of corporate life, weaving sharp lyricism with global influences, while also exploring relationship metaphors with AI being romanticized in the song “AI CHAIN”. Miyachi even has a moment to reflect on his love interest in the song “ONLY” Featuring 11.
Raised between New York and Japan, MIYACHI channels the struggles of his salaryman days into tracks that confront societal pressures and false facades of success. Setting the tone with the 1st song “NANDEYANEN” you feel the pain in his lyrics and somewhat comical, animated vocal performance. The album’s standout feature, a commanding guest verse from Japanese hip-hop heavyweight AK-69, amplifies its relentless energy on the song “DO ME”. Meanwhile, “UFO” takes listeners on an interstellar ride, powered by production from Grammy Award-winning artist and producer Dubba-AA, whose credits include Kodak Black and NBA YoungBoy, delivering otherworldly trap beats.
MIYACHI’s unique cultural lens shines through, from his viral “KONBINI CONFESSIONS” YouTube series, where he plays a disillusioned salaryman, to his electrifying performances, like his recent Boiler Room Hong Kong set. His music bridges East and West, redefining global hip-hop with authenticity and unrelenting drive.
