Knitted fabric has 2 edge loops. They are used to form the edge or side edge of the fabric. The appearance of the edge depends on how you knit the edge loop.
I suggest watching a video in which I tell and show how I knit edge loops.
✔️ Method 1 "Pigtail" - at the beginning of the row, knit the 1st loop with the front one; at the end of the row, remove the last loop without knitting, the thread in front of the work.
Suitable for almost all patterns, convenient when sewing products, the edge is elastic.
✔️ Method 2 "Knotted" - at the beginning of the row, remove the 1st loop, the thread behind the work; at the end of the row, knit the last loop with the front one.
Most often used if an open edge of the product is expected. Also convenient when knitting from yarn that is thin and strongly twisted. The knotted edge is less stretchable, the edge is denser and stronger.
Does anyone knit edge stitches like me, in the 1st way? Please share in the comments. Because I haven't met anyone, everyone knits edge stitches differently.
Enjoy watching!
