A major oil spill
A major oil spill caused by a pipeline break off the coast of California, USA, began reaching the coast of Huntington Beach over the weekend. Dead fish and birds were found in the sand.
According to the Orange County inspector, the oil slick was caused by a leak of 126,000. gallons of oil, which has covered about 13 square miles of the Pacific since the spill on Saturday morning.

Earthquake in the Sandwich Islands

The seismic event was recorded at 03:54 GMT. The hypocenter of the seismic event lay at a depth of only 10 km. No destructive effects were reported. The southern Sandwich Islands are uninhabited.
