A smartphone is now $500 after a 20% discount. What was its original price?
This is a very classic percentage problem and many have seen it back in middle school. However, many students still get this kind of problem wrong. I will demonstrate a very common mistake with such a percentage problem, a quick way to solve this with a picture, and how to divide decimal numbers with long division. At the end, make sure you try a similar question at 5:22 about a pair of Jordan 1's Royal blue. : )
