I'd like to point out that children's Kore skis are made using the same technologies as adult skis – not some weird plastics, but high-quality Karuba wood. As a result, the torsional stiffness for children is even higher than for adults.
Regarding snow pressure,
for the simplified adult model: 90/189*11.7 = 0.041
for children: 30/135*8.7 = 0.025
The pressure is almost half that of adults!
Now about the test results on a child.
The difference from piste skis is huge. These skis were actually able to ski on powder snow from the very first run. On the piste, the long and stiff KORE skis are more reminiscent of giant slalom skis: high speeds, long turns. I'm particularly impressed by the skis' very easy control on steep, hard slopes when sliding sideways. If a child masters this technique, then simply sliding down any black slope will be much easier than on piste—the wider waist makes all the difference here.
How to choose the right ski size? Information on this topic online is minimal. Adult instructors have virtually no experience in this matter. We decided to apply the "as for yourself" principle. Ultimately, Vasilisa, who is 132 cm tall and weighs 25 kg, has 135 cm skis. She'll likely be able to ski on them for 2-3 seasons. If she were an only child, I might have made her suffer with 145 cm skis—that would have been enough for 4-5 seasons. But Vasilisa has a younger brother who will take up her freeriding mantle in the third or fourth season :)
She's quite comfortable on the 135 both on and off-piste.
