Solo Bike Trip to Uttarkashi | Harsil | Gangotri EP 01
Hi Guys,
This is my first road trip to Uttarakhand which covered around 600 k.m. in my four days trip. I pass through Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Harsil, Gangotri and Dhanaulti. My trip started from Delhi by Volvo bus till Dehradun. Dehradun is almost 254 k.m. from Delhi and it took about 6 hours to reach there. From Dehradun I hired a Bike and i choose Royal Enfield Himalayan Bike for my First Adventures Road Trip.
My trip started at 11 a.m. from Dehradun Bike rental Service and reach Uttarkashi at 6 p.m. total distance covered 150 k.m. I took below route to reach Uttarkashi.
Char Khamba Chowk, Dehradun ----- Bhatta Fall ---- Mussoorie Cant Road ----- Chamba Mussorie Road -------- Suwakholi ------Almas ----- Narkuchi ----- Marad ----- Tingling Point ------ Uttarkashi Mussoorie RD ------ Chinyalisaur ----- Uttarkashi.
My trip were divided into small break in between. First, I stopped at Suwakholi where I have taken left turn for Uttarkashi, Tingling Point and Chinyalisaur. Chinyalisaur is a small town in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. This is where Tehri dam water started flowing which covered a distance of 93 kms till Chinyalisaur.
Finally reached Uttarkashi at 6 p.m. after facing traffic in Chinyalisaur due to maintenance work and rains.
Uttarkashi is situated on the banks of Bhagirathi river and it is also known as holy town. I booked in Hotel KNB Heritage Opt. Bhatwari Road Taxi Stand, Bhadri Chowk, Near District Collectorate,, Gangotri National Highway., Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand 249193. Ph. 096900 69804
Hotel room was good with all required basic amenities and awesome views. charges are like INR 400 for one day inclusive of garage for my Himalayan Bike.
It is an overwhelming experience passing through Maa Ganga Jhula Bridge in Uttarkashi at night. This bridge was built on Bhagirathi river. Weather was quite pleasant at night where you can clearly enjoy the sound of water. After exploring the local market and the rope bridge, I had my dinner and rest for next exciting day ride.
