Zerrin Batman, or Zerrin Tekindor as we all know her, was born on August 5, 1964.
She was born in Burhaniye, Balıkesir, as the second child of Ahmet Bey and Feriha Hanım, originally from Ankara.
We all know her as an actress, but Zerrin had an interest in painting from a young age.
Zerrin lost her father in a motorcycle accident when she was only 7 years old. Around the same age, she decided to become a painter.
She completed her primary and secondary education in Ankara. After high school, she wanted to study fine arts at a boarding school in Istanbul, but her mother did not allow it.
Having decided to become a painter from a young age, Zerrin Tekindor turned to theater because there was no university offering art education in Ankara at that time.
Zerrin enrolled in the Hacettepe University State Conservatory and graduated in 1985.
After graduating, Zerrin went to the Adana State Theatre as an intern artist, and in 1987 she started working at the Ankara State Theatre.
Between 1987 and 2003, Zerrin acted at the Ankara State Theatre, appearing in plays such as "The Laundry House," "Ferhat and Şirin," "The Window Opening to the Sky," "The Last of the Great Lovers," "A Noisy and Tumultuous Story," "Death," "Love Kills," and "Deer and Curses."
Alongside her theatre work, Zerrin also pursued painting, enrolling as a special student in the painting department at İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University in 1990. She successfully completed her studies there and graduated in 1994.
Zerrin, who studied at the Halil Akdemiz Workshop, also had the opportunity to work at the workshops of Mehmet Güleryüz and Bedri Baykam, who were invited as instructors to the department. While continuing his theater career, he held solo exhibitions in Istanbul and Ankara, and participated in art fairs abroad. The renowned artist, whose numerous works are in private collections, has held sixteen painting exhibitions to date.
In an interview with Alem Magazine, the famous artist responded to the question, "When did you start painting?" with:
"I don't remember at all. My earliest memories are all related to painting. My time at Bilkent University was very fun, there was a very comfortable environment. Our workspaces were very large, and we could easily access any materials we wanted. It was very nice to be a student again; I even enjoyed getting scolded by the secretary in student affairs."
The successful artist continued the interview by answering the question, "What has painting added to your life?" with, "Painting is the reason I am who I am today." "It's very difficult for me to answer that because there's no specific date when I started painting," she replies.
In 1987, Zerrin, then 22 years old, had her first marriage. She married Çetin Tekindor, also an actor, and adopted the Tekindor surname, which she would never erase throughout her life.
