INTERSECT and EXCEPT in SQL | SQL Bits | Kovolff
Intersects allow you to see those rows common to the two tables being intersected
i.e.
SELECT surname, team FROM 2019
INTERSECT
SELECT surname, team FROM 2020
This produces the rows having identical content in surname and team in both tables: 2019 and 2020
To show those rows lying outside of the intersect, simply replace INTERSECT with EXCEPT
i.e.
SELECT surname, team FROM 2019
EXCEPT
SELECT surname, team FROM 2020
