Without chlorine, organic matter and contaminants would run amuck into your pool, turning it into a marshy environment. Through pool shock, chlorine can be broken down and returned to its original form to maintain the water's health. We'll talk about the different types of shock and how they work.
One type of shock that's commonly used is cal-hypo, which can quickly kill bacteria, algae, and other contaminants in your pool. It can also raise the pH level and chlorine levels.
Although dichlor is a fast-acting sanitizer, it won't raise pH levels. It contains CYA, so make sure to test the level of this compound before you use it.
Non-chlorine shock is a type of shock that's ideal for pools with normal or elevated chlorine levels. However, it doesn't kill algae or germs.
