How to rank a list based on a product in LibreOffice Calc
To use the RANK function with a VLOOKUP in LibreOffice Calc, you need to follow these steps:
1. In a column to the left of your data, use the RANK function to assign a rank to each value based on your criteria. For example, if you want to rank the values in column A from smallest to largest, you can use this formula in column B: =RANK(A2,$A$2:$A$10,1). This will give the smallest value a rank of 1, the second smallest a rank of 2, and so on. You can drag the formula down to fill the rest of the column.
2. In another column to the left of your data, enter the numbers 1, 2, 3, etc. up to the number of rows in your data. This will be the index column for your VLOOKUP function. For example, if you have 10 rows of data, you can enter 1 in cell C2, 2 in cell C3, and so on until 10 in cell C11.
3. In the column where you want to display the sorted data, use the VLOOKUP function to look up the value corresponding to each rank. For example, if you want to sort column A and display it in column D, you can use this formula in cell D2: =VLOOKUP(C2,$B$2:$A$11,2,0). This will look up the value of 1 in column C, find it in column B (the rank column), and return the corresponding value from column A (the value column). You can drag the formula down to fill the rest of the column.
