GM-94 Firing Disassembly Cleaning Preparing for Normal Combat. Multi-shot Grenade Launcher
The GM-94 hand-held multi-shot grenade launcher was developed at the Tula Instrument-Making Design Bureau in the early 1990s. The primary purpose of the new weapon was to provide fire support to infantry in close combat, especially in urban areas, as well as conduct special police operations. It is designed to engage personnel in urban areas, basements, fortifications, folded terrain, and mountains; destroy lightly armored vehicles; and create smoke screens and fires. A range of 43-mm single-shot rounds was developed specifically for the GM-94, including high-explosive fragmentation grenades, tear gas grenades, and rubber "bullet" rounds. Of particular interest are the high-explosive rounds, which feature a thermobaric charge with a high explosive-to-weight ratio. This is achieved through the use of a plastic grenade body. This unusual solution ensures safe use of the grenade launcher at close ranges, preventing the shooter from being injured by shrapnel from their own grenade. The lethal effect of a thermobaric charge (shock wave, high temperature) on enemy personnel has a radius of up to 3 meters, while the minimum (relatively) safe firing range is only 5 meters. The VGM-93 thermobaric (high-explosive) grenade weighs approximately 250 grams, of which 160 grams is the explosive charge. The grenade's muzzle velocity is approximately 85 m/s. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
