Sound Notification - Android Accessibility Feature

Did you know that your phone can continuously listen
for certain sounds and send you a notification when it hears them?
It’s called “Sound Notifications”
To learn how to activate this Android feature, please keep on watching
To activate “Sound Notifications” on your phone
you’ll need download and install
‘Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications’ on Google Play.
A link will be in the description below.
Some devices like Google’s Pixel phones already have it installed –
so follow along and if you don’t see the feature -
then you’ll need to download and install it.
So to use Sound Notifications – go to your settings app.
Then select Accessibility
Then scroll down and select Sound Notifications
If it’s your first time using the app
you will need to accept the permissions
to allow the device to use your microphone
Next you’ll see a screen that allows you to turn on
a shortcut to the feature –
which is a good idea to also activate.
You can turn on the feature by clicking on Settings
At the top you can activate the feature with the slider
and then click on the text to see which sounds
you want the phone to listen for.
As you will see there are three categories of sounds
that your phone can listen for –
from emergency sounds -
like a smoke or fire alarms,
to Priority sounds such as a baby crying or dog barking
to Appliances and other sounds –
such as a microwave or running water.
Now go back using the arrow at the top of the screen
and select Notification Preferences to specify
how want to be notified for each sound category.
For each type of sound,
you can indicate whether you want your phone to Vibrate
when it hears and notifies you,
whether to flash the camera’s light
and whether you also want to be notified
via your connected watch if it is using Google’s Wear OS.
With these preferences now set,
your device will listen for the types of sounds you indicated
and will notify you if it hears them in the way that you wanted.
