Aunt of Deandre Nembhard Mourns Third Family Member Lost to Violence

Seventeen year old Deandre Nembhard was shot and kill on Saturday morning as he socialized on Croton Lane in the Saint Martin De Porres area. The minor was en route to his house on Nutmeg Street, just around the corner, when he decided to stop in with some friends who were having a get together. A vehicle reportedly drove up before a gunman exited and opened fire at the group; five shots would make its mark on Deandre, who was rushed to the K.H.M.H. for urgent medical treatment, but died within hours. It’s a heart-wrenching experience for the family, particularly because this is the third relative to have been killed in the city. His aunt, Anita Nembhard, told News Five today that she has lost an older brother and now two nephews as a result of urban crime.
