Hi everyone. Today, I’ll show you two simple ways to add a background color to text in Canva. Let’s start with the first method.
Step 1: Go to the "Text" tab and add your text to the Canva page. Type your desired text and customize its style, such as font or size.
Step 2: Navigate to the "Elements" tab, search for shapes, and select one that fits your design.
Step 3: Drag and drop the shape to your page. Resize and position it to fully cover your text.
Step 4: Change the shape’s color using the color picker in the toolbar.
Now, let’s try the second method.
Step 1: Select your text and click "Effects" in the toolbar. Scroll down to the "Background" option and click it. This instantly adds a rounded background behind your text.
Step 2: Adjust the roundness, spread, and transparency of the background using the sliders in the effects panel.
Step 3: Customize the background color using the color picker to match your design.
And that’s it! Whether you use shapes or the built-in text background effect, both methods help you create polished designs quickly. If this tutorial helped, please give the video a like and subscribe for more Canva tips. Happy designing!
