And after having a spectacular knockout over Robert Whittaker to unify the belts and become undisputed champion, it was looking like very exciting times were ahead.
However, Israel Adesanya would go on to have 5 title defenses and have 4 unanimous decisions, one of which was the Romero fight, which is famous for its lack of action.
He did finish Paulo Costa in a stellar performance, but his defenses against Jared Cannonier, Robert Whittaker, and Marvin Vettori all lacked that bit of flare that made us fans of Izzy in the first place.
