Building the ultimate 1/48 F-4G Phantom II Wild Weasel from MENG! Watch a masterclass in advanced scale modeling, from a custom 3D wire jungle cockpit to seamless intakes and weathered titanium exhausts.

In this comprehensive full build video, I take you step-by-step through two months of intensive work on MENG’s modern 1/48 scale F-4G Phantom II. Replicating a lethal Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) veteran from a 1996 Operation Southern Watch deployment over Iraq, this scale model features major structural corrections, advanced oil painting weathering techniques, and a heavy, historically accurate missile loadout.

Let’s be honest—how many Phantom kits will you actually build in your modeling career? Four, five, six? Probably not many more. Because our hobby time is precious, it is worth slowing down to enjoy every single one of them exactly the way you want. That’s why, even though this small exhaust project took around a week of parallel work, capturing the sheer complexity of the massive J79 afterburner cans was worth every second.
