AirDrop is Apple’s file-sharing feature that allows users to wirelessly transfer photos, videos, documents, and other files between Apple devices. It uses a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to establish a direct connection without requiring an internet connection.

When a user enables AirDrop, their device scans for nearby Apple devices that also have AirDrop turned on. Bluetooth is used to detect available devices and establish a secure peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection. This Wi-Fi connection allows files to be transferred quickly and efficiently, even if no Wi-Fi network is available. Since the connection is encrypted, the transfer is secure, protecting data from unauthorized access.

To send a file, the user selects the AirDrop option from the share menu on their Apple device. The recipient's device must be set to receive files from either "Contacts Only" or "Everyone." If "Contacts Only" is selected, both devices must be signed into iCloud, and the sender must be listed in the recipient’s contacts. If "Everyone" is selected, any nearby Apple device with AirDrop enabled can receive files.

Once a recipient is chosen, a notification appears on their device, allowing them to accept or decline the file transfer. If accepted, the file is sent using the direct Wi-Fi connection, ensuring a fast transfer speed. Photos and videos appear in the recipient’s Photos app, while other file types open in their respective applications.

AirDrop works on iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers, allowing seamless sharing between Apple devices. It is commonly used for quickly transferring large files without email, messaging apps, or external storage. The combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enables a fast and secure transfer process, making AirDrop a convenient way to share content instantly.t
