#NameThatSong: City Called Heaven by Mahalia Jackson. The influential gospel singer and civil rights activist is filmmaker Iyabo Kwayana's brother's favorite singer and so she chose to feature Jackson singing this song at the 1964 Chicago Freedom Movement rally in her film, BY WATER.
BY WATER: Follow an unlikely hero's journey into his memories, which transform into a vehicle for reconciliation and healing. Upon receiving his voicemail, Iyabo Kwayana heeded her brother’s message and created this film as a way to “complete” his story. A film by Iyabo Kwayana.
