Hello everyone, welcome to Model My Mind.
Some of you have probably heard of proxy servers.
In large companies, proxy servers are used to regulate employee internet access, potentially to save bandwidth and to provide controlled internet access overall.
In this video, we'll learn about the essential features of a forward proxy and a reverse proxy.
A forward proxy channels all requests from the internal, private network and forwards them to the target servers on the internet using its own sender address.
Responses from the target servers on the internet also first reach the forward proxy before being forwarded to the corresponding client devices on the private network.
The most obvious difference between a reverse proxy and a forward proxy is the direction of traffic.
The reverse proxy forwards requests from internet clients to internal resources, usually an internal web server. The web server is only contacted if the reverse proxy cannot answer the requests from its own cache.
