Step by step instructions/ script:
So in this video I'll be showing you a quick way to make a duotone effect using the gradient map tool.
I'm using this picture for an example, and I'll leave a link for it in the description if you want to follow along.
First I'm going to the ‘adjustments studio’ and I'm adding a ‘brightness and contrast adjustment’. And this will just make everything stand out a bit more. I'm bringing the brightness up to 30% and the contrast up to 45% but you'll probably have to use different amounts depending on what picture you're using.
I'm going back to the ‘adjustments studio’ and I'm adding a ‘gradient map adjustment’. And this is just an effective way of recolouring an image. So the shadows in the picture are shown as red, the midtones are shown as green and the highlights are shown as blue. I only want to use two colours in this example, so I'm going to get rid of the green. To delete it im clicking on the green circle and clicking on the delete button. And now i can change the colour of the shadows and highlights. Starting with the shadows im clicking the circle to select it, and then im clicking here to change the colour. And I'm changing it to a dark blue. And moving to the highlights, im clicking the circle to select it, and im changing the colour to a light orange/peachy colour. And then if you want to adjust the brightness and contrast, you double tap on the layer to bring the sliders back up.
