Sponsored by the New York Life Foundation, the Resilience Through poetry workshop series invites teen writers to explore deep feelings like grief, healing, and joy in their writing. Each session, led by Scholastic Awards alumni, invites participants to reflect, get inspired, and write.
The first workshop in the series, Translating Your Emotions into Words, is led by Scholastic Awards Gold Medalist and New York Life Award winner Alexa Russell, with the support of lifelong educator and author Kristine Brickey.
Teens in grades 7-12, ages 13 and up, who reside in the U.S., U.S. territories, U.S. military bases, and Canada are eligible to participate in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards by entering their art or writing. Works about grief and bereavement may be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship.
