A gang of rowdy commoners! That's what the police called the women who attacked a bread van passing through Parma in 1941. They then distributed the food to the population starving due to rationing and the restrictions of World War II. Despite the harsh repression, these rebels continued to attack vans and finally marched to the Parma prefecture. There, however, the police quelled the protest with water cannons and arrested the women, who were held in prison for weeks.
