This session focuses on the creation and implementation of a critical thinking project booklet used in a university-wide second year reading and writing course in Japan. This project booklet, as part of a private university’s general English education programme, was integrated into the Unlock textbooks by Cambridge and introduced students to questioning information sources, researching information for confirmation or correction, and describing opinions in a reaction paper after deconstructing the information presented in their textbooks. This talk presents the rationale in the creation, the activities done by students, as well as the students’ impressions of the project booklet.
