ARTIFACTS Underwater novel
We hold in our hands unique artifacts recovered from the bottom of the Baltic Sea. This valuable cargo was being smuggled from Russia to Europe, but the Lübeck vessel Archangel Raphael was unable to leave the Björkösund Strait. Saltwater, darkness, and spilled tar preserved the smuggled cargo, the crew's personal belongings, and even the sailors' clothing for three hundred years. Divers from the Russian Geographical Society's Underwater Research Center are bringing objects to the surface that have no analogues in museums around the world, and restorers are restoring them to their original appearance. Incredibly, the Baltic waters and silt have preserved delicate materials such as fabric and even paper for us since 1724. The entire process of restoring these artifacts is in this film.
