The FUTURE of Cloud in Automation
In this video, Walker Reynolds talks about the future of PLC / HMI / Edge control in Industry 4.0 when you have a cloud based IIoT Architecture, using a platform like Ignition, or Factory Studio. In summary, Walker does not think that we will ever be doing process control in the cloud. But everything else will be done in the cloud. The edge of network will extend closer to the edge, and the layers in the middle will get flatter and flatter until your architecture is this:
