Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) are essentially web applications that gain additional capabilities in modern browsers. Using service workers and a web app manifest, PWAs are installable and available offline.

For example, after switching to a PWA, Twitter saw 65% more pages per session, 75% more tweets, and a 20% decrease in bounce rate, while simultaneously reducing the size of their application by over 97%.

By leveraging the latest web features, which offer near-native capabilities and reliability, PWAs enable cross-platform support with a single codebase, making them installable on desktops and tablets.
