Léo Naïtaïssa was born in the late 90s in the Parisian suburbs, surrounded by art from an early age. One of his earliest memories is attending dub soundsystem concerts with his father on the outskirts of the city. That early exposure stuck with him, and by 2013 he'd found his way into the Parisian electronic scene and started making his own music.
Under the name Quelza, he's developed a sound that sits somewhere between cinematic and extraterrestrial. His productions weave together haunting synths, soul-summoning techno, and snappy breakbeats, often built around long breakdowns and heart-in-mouth silences that make the drops hit harder. There's a filmic quality to everything he does - simultaneously intense and weightless, layered with detail but never cluttered.
Now based in Berlin, he's released on Mord Records, Palinoia, 47, and Hayes Collective, with his 2025 EP Pensa Poetico on Dekmantel's UFO series marking a breakthrough moment. The 11-minute title track alone showcases his range - dub chords, IDM-inflected rhythms, and a second half that erupts into breakbeat science. He's played Berghain, Tresor, Fabric, KHIDI, Bassiani, Awakenings, and Dekmantel, earning co-signs from Hudson Mohawke and Tiga along the way.
Expect an evolving, unpredictable set - propulsive but atmospheric, with every moment carefully sculpted.
