IDENTIFICATION OF CUPRIC (COPPER[II]) ION using sodium hydroxide and ammonium hydroxide
Copper [II] sulphate solution is prepared by dissolving in water. The solution is divided into two equal parts.
Sodium hydroxide solution is added first a little and then in excess to one part of solution. It forms a pale blue precipitate.
Ammonium hydroxide solution is added first a little and then in excess. When few drops of ammonium hydroxide is added a pale blue precipitate is formed. On adding excess the pale blue precipitate dissolves and forms a deep blue(inky blue) solution.
